Album: Archive Edition 19 – Foul Fen

Description

This collection comes from early 1992 and features episodes from Dennis’s Advice Shed.

The Rhythms of the Fens. How does Antoinette Clayden get on with her new daughter-in-law? Why can you hear Antoinette’s bungalow? Who can’t keep still? And does he really want to be licentious? Why does Giles upset Miss Edna? What’s the sound of a haddock being battered?

Advice Shed No 2 – Jam or Spam. A problem of jam versus Spam and common versus posh.  Dennis has made an improvement to crash helmets, there’s advice for fish-and-chip eaters, an unexpected benefit of a lucrative pastime, and why people are happy behind fences. And there’s a Chinese proverb to ponder.

Lining Mining. Why’s Dennis wriggling? What needs an incision? What’s banging on the tin of Zubes? What’s got everything attached to everything else? One little nick and it’ll all come out… but why can’t they do it? And why can’t Mr South pull the string?

Advice Shed No 3 – Kindling and Cromer. Could a public lavatory solve someone’s problem? Red oxide metal primer on a frock can be tricky to shift, and we hear about a proper grip, women priests, ballroom dancing and getting a proper grip. And there’s always Thought for the Week.

Advice Shed No 4 – A Case of Closets. Will the Channel Tunnel ruin trade in the Fens? Walking on the outside of a lady doesn’t seem to apply in the Fen countryside, and getting directions from a Fen dweller could be problematical. Plus, there’s a boon for your boots.

Be warned: AE19 contains Brylcreem, pickled gherkins, a pearl-handled fruit knife, lapsing into posh, a capon claw, an Acme Thunderer, Mrs Sharp’s castanet, the four of spades, Windolene, Princess Diana, a pile driver, Yorkshire pudding stirring, writhing on its bogies, hundreds of bars of chocolates, battling against a stormy blast and various uses for a brassiere.

Running time: Over an hour, if you can stand it.
